For those with food allergies, eating out can be a challenge to say the least. Try out some of these Livingston County favorites, and take comfort in knowing that these businesses take extra precautions in keeping our food allergy friends safe. Reference this list next time you venture out to eat, but also make sure to take necessary precautions to be as safe as possible.
Follow these tips:
- Call the restaurant in advance to ask about their allergy protocols
- Visit the restaurant website ahead of time to check the menu for allergy-friendly meals
- Avoid buffets, as cross contamination is more likely to occur
- Make your server aware of your allergy when you get to the restaurant
- Always bring an EpiPen or other necessary medications to stay safe, in the event that an accident does occur
