Looking to try something new on your next visit to the Brighton-Howell Area? Or maybe you’re a seasoned pro and ready for a challenge. Either way, you can find a mountain biking trail to suit your needs in Livingston County.
Pros: Pinckney Recreation Area
The small village of Pinckney holds over 26 miles of multi-use trails for mountain bikers, backpackers, anglers and other recreation enthusiasts. These trails are lined with campsites, and a chain of excellent fishing lakes. Check out this video of bikers trying out the Potawatomi Trail (Click Here)
Experienced: Settlers Park
Hartland’s Settlers Park holds natural surface trails, officially known as the Section 21 Trails, which are made up of three loops. These trails also contain several optional skill sections with rock gardens, log piles, dirt jumps, and wooden features.
Settler’s Park allows night riding and fat biking in the winter, making it an accessible trail at any time of day, any time of year! Find the entrance to these trails behind the Hartland Meijer.

Torn Shirt Mountain Bike Trail is for the seasoned mountain biker. The area is interspersed with attractive lakes and hills, so regardless of your experience, the view of any of the rides you choose will be breathtaking.
Novice: Kensington Metropark
The 8.5 mile paved bike trail surrounding Kent Lake is the perfect place to dip your toe into bike riding. There’s a reason why this park attracts two and a half million visitors every year. Come explore for yourself!
