HELL, MI – Your marriage could actually begin in Hell, where there’s no place to go from there but up.

A lot of people journey to Hell, Mich. to tie the knot each year at the small town’s Chapel of Love.

Here’s how you you can have your wedding in Hell.

Hell, Michigan is located about 20 miles northwest of Ann Arbor.

In order to get to the little wedding chapel, you have to first enter the gates of Hell located behind the Creamatory ice cream shop.

You’ll then come across Hell’s Chapel of Love, which has a question mark on top of its steeple. The blue doors are meant to ward off evil spirits.

Your wedding will be officiated by Reverend Vonn, the Minister of Hell.

“We do weddings all year. Last year we ended up with almost 100 weddings,” said Reverend Vonn. “Friday the 13ths are always busy, Halloween is busy as well as Valentine’s Day.”

It costs $125 to rent the chapel for an hour.

“You can rent it for longer, but the hour is usually enough,” added Reverend Vonn. “My services to have me officiate are $106.66.”

On February 29, 2020, Hell will give away weddings to 29 couples.

“We do that because only the men have to remember their anniversary once every four years. We cut it off at 29 weddings. We’re starting to book those.”

People who get married here will receive a marriage license with Hell, Michigan on it which says “married in Hell.”

“We also do vow renewals, so you don’t just have to get married here. We have a different certificate for those. We have a lot of people that do that.”

The chapel itself holds 12 guests including the couple and officiant. The grounds can accommodate an outdoor ceremony of up to 150 people.

To reserve your wedding, text Reverend Vonn at 810-623-1125 to get started.

The wedding also includes two wine glasses and a special United in Hell magnet. For catering, bar services, rental equipment, etc., you’ll need to make separate arrangements.

After the wedding, you can take a pic here, which is located just feet from the chapel.

While in Hell, you can stop by the newly restored Hell Saloon, formerly the Dam Site Inn. The new owners have completely restored it.

The restaurant is known for its fresh burgers with hand-cut fries.

The saloon is for sale for $599k, complete with liquor license and all the furnishings and equipment

There’s one more restaurant in Hell, the Hell Hole Bar. Here you can enjoy the burgers, pasties and more. You can also take home some sauces and seasonings from Hell.
