Snow-making machines have been covering part of Mt. Brighton in the white stuff.

Clouds of man-made snow have been billowing over the ski and snowboard trails at 4141 Bauer Road in Genoa Township just outside of downtown Brighton.

Opening day of the 2018-19 season is Saturday, when a limited number of chairlifts and trails will open. Hours that day are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“One of the cool things we’re doing this year is opening the full terrain park on opening day, instead of just part of it,” Mt. Brighton Marketing Manager Jason Knight said. “We were able to make enough snow.”

The terrain park will feature new rails and boxes for skiers and snowboards to maneuver, Knight said. Mt. Brighton acquired them from fellow Vail Resorts-owned ski resort Park City Mountain Resort in Park City, Utah.

Two chair lifts on the front side of Mt. Brighton and one tow rope to the top of the terrain park will be operating on opening day. Instructors will be available for lessons with skiers and snowboarders.
