Head to Brighton Riding Stables for rides through the tranquil bridle trails that traverse the lovely Spring fields and woodlands. The amazing, friendly staff and well-mannered horses will cause even first-time riders to feel at ease. There are horseback trail rides for all ages, making it ideal for a weekend with the kids or even a business outing. Check out their lessons and trail rides!
There’s no better place to learn about nature and Spring than the Howell Nature Center. After all, it’s the home to “Woody” – Michigan’s Official Groundhog Day groundhog! Further, its Wild Wonders Wildlife Park houses native, permanently injured wildlife, such as foxes, porcupines, and hawks. Your kids will love Alexandria’s Naturescape, a fenced in area with a kid-sized waterfall, a tree house, a life-sized spider web, and other fun features. Watch a video tour for a preview!

Enjoy budding nature in the 4,947 acres of Brighton Recreation Area. Go for a picnic by one of the many lakes, play disc golf, mountain bike, take your dog to the pet-friendly section of shoreline by Chilson Pond, or rent a kayak. Kayak rentals start in May and can be reserved by calling 810-229-6566.
Stroll and shop along South Ore Creek in downtown Brighton. Watch the kids play at Imagination Station, the 10,000 sq. foot playground with a “Tridge” – a three-sectioned bridge and boardwalk over the millpond. Visit nearby stores such as Bink & Babs Boutique, the Artisan’s Bench, and Triple Diamonds Alpaca Boutique.
