Hamburg Historical Museum
The Hamburg Historical Museum is a well-kept journal of the southern part of the Brighton Howell Area’s past. Focused on the township of Hamburg and its residents, the goal of the Hamburg Historical Museum is to preserve, protect, and display the history.
Did you know that Strawberry Lake was a summer home of the Potawatomi long before Euro-Americans ever reached its shores? Or that farming and milling were the first ways people made a living until two railroads crisscrossed in the 1880s and opened up the area to tourism and industry. Learn about this area’s settlement, industry, and culture through an engaging visit to the museum. Guests often love the miniature train display depicting everyday life in the 1831 settlement of Hamburg Township. Alongside the train, thousands of artifacts illustrate 183 years of local history.
The Hamburg Historical Museum is more than a space to learn about history; you can immerse yourself in it. In the Tea Room, they serve desserts with a personal pot of tea at special events or on a group tour.
All-day admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children.
