Explore Brighton Howell Area’s Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) Program cultivates tourism by inspiring employees, volunteers, and community members to turn every visitor encounter into a positive experience.
The CTA Program is designed to train all tourism stakeholders to answer questions to ensure the visitor has the best possible trip. When visitors come to the Brighton Howell Area and leave with a positive experience, they’re more likely to return and share their experiences with others.
By offering regular certification sessions, we can ensure the entire area is engaged in supporting tourism.

Learn More About the CTA Program
Who Should Enroll?
This certification is open to anyone who is directly or indirectly involved in the tourism industry or in serving locals and visitors (leisure travelers, business travelers, spectators, event attendees).
How Can I Become a Certified Tourism Ambassador?
To earn the CTA designation, all participants must attend a 4-hour classroom session that will cover four instructional modules including:
- The Power of Tourism
- Discovering the Brighton Howell Area
- Knowing, Finding & Using Resources
- Exceeding Customer Expectations
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will earn the Certified Tourism Ambassador® designation (you may use the CTA initials behind your name, e.g. Jane Doe, CTA), along with a certificate of completion and lapel pin.
An annual renewal process that includes continuing education is necessary to maintain your certification.
How Much does the CTA Program Cost?
There is a one-time non-refundable enrollment fee of $25 per person.
The annual certification renewal fee is regularly $20, or $10 with an early-bird discount.
