10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Enjoy a truly memorable winter experience in the Brighton Howell Area at Kensington Metropark Nature Center. During this unique program, curious winter songbirds may flutter in close as you learn why they’re drawn to this special setting and how to safely encourage close encounters—sometimes even a gentle landing on your hand.
The experience begins indoors at the nature center, where you’ll discover what makes these interactions possible and learn how to identify the birds you’re likely to see. From there, a guided outdoor walk leads you into the park to meet your feathered friends firsthand. Don’t forget your camera—you’ll want to capture the moment.
What to Expect:
This program starts indoors and concludes outdoors with a guided walk of about ½ mile along mostly flat dirt and gravel paths, which may be snowy or icy. The pace is relaxed with frequent stops, and the walk returns to the nature center. No prior experience is needed, and instruction is provided in a small-group setting. Be sure to dress for the weather, as the program runs rain, snow, or shine.
