Story Time with Caldecott Medal Winner Matthew Cordell

Caldecott Medal Winner Matthew Cordell is coming to Brighton!! We are thrilled to welcome Matthew and hope you can join us on Tuesday, October 27th at 6:00 for a very special story time about none other than....David Bowie! What a combo!! His newest book, Starman: The Cosmic Voyage of David Bowie is perfect for upper elementary aged students.

Matthew will talk a bit about how he first began listening to Bowie when he was a kid in the 80s. Then he'll talk about how later in life, he learned more about all of his albums, and how different one sounds from another. He may even play short sound bites from a few of songs to show the differences, and also show pictures of how Bowie transformed physically too, with hairstyles, costumes, color, stage sets, etc. The overall intended takeaway will be curiosity and exploration. To show how many new things there are to discover around the world, and how we should never stop seeking and learning new things. No matter how old we are, there will always be more to learn. Our world is vast, exciting, and diverse in countless ways that we can't fully understand until we learn about them and experience them ourselves.
