Downhill Skiing
At Mt. Brighton, you can visit an entirely revamped downhill ski destination with exhilarating slopes for skiers and snowboarders of all levels and ages. Over $10 million of improvements have resulted in new chairlifts, new base facilities, and a new powerful state-of-the-art snowmaking system. Upgrades have also included slope re-grading, enhanced learning terrain, and racing hill expansion.
Mt. Brighton has a riveting halfpipe, and over 26 trails and 5 lifts covering 130 acres – check out their map for an in-depth look. Amenities include the Chairlift Ski Shop which rents equipment, a children’s ski and ride school center with group lessons starting as young as 3 years old, and 4 bars/restaurants on site. The slopes are even integrated with Epic Mix, a social app that allows you to track accomplishments.

Cross-Country Skiing
There are more than a few options in the Brighton-Howell Area for this winter sport! Kensington Metropark boasts 12 miles of groomed cross-country skiing. Both beginner and intermediate level trails traverse the park and golf course. You’ll encounter beautiful scenes of snowy fields, frozen ponds, and picturesque forest. Resources and amenities can be found at the ski center with public restrooms, limited food service, and rental equipment. Check out the park conditions and closure info before you head out!
Huron Meadows Metropark offers 2 types of trails including 15 miles of tracked, classic skiing and 11 miles of trails for skate-style skiing with rolling hills. The Buck’s Run area of the park is an intriguing mile and a half loop made from snow shot from snow guns!
The Ski Center has a heated lounge with restrooms and snacks and features both classic- and skate-style ski rentals. Be sure to look at the park’s conditions before you arrive!
The Island State Recreation Area allows you to ski across over 18 miles of cross-country trails, from open brush land to mature hardwood forest. Take a look at the trails beforehand, and feel free to call 810.229.7067 for more details and information!
