The best way to enjoy the summer is by spending the day on the lake via boat. Finding a spot to drop your boat just got easy in the Brighton Howell Area. Follow along with these public boat launches to see where you are dropping in next.
Kent Lake
Kent Lake is located inside both Kensington Metropark and Island Lake Recreation Area. To access the East boat launch point coming off Exit 153, enter Kensington Metropark, and the boat launch will be the first road on your left. To get to the West boat launch, get off at Exit 151 and it will be on the right. It’s a beautiful area to explore on the lake. A recreation pass is needed.
The boat launch is located on the Southeastern side of the park.

The Huron River Water Trail has 104 miles of water for you to explore. There are three different launch points in the Brighton Howell Area where you can access it, including Huron Meadows Metropark, Island Lake Recreation Area, and Kensington Metropark. All of these parks require a recreation pass to enter.

Just outside of the historical downtown Howell lies Scofield Park on Thompson Lake. The boat launch is located off Roosevelt Street, just before the cemetery. There’s a small parking lot, but there is overflow parking across the street. Grab lunch or dinner from a downtown restaurant and enjoy it on the boat. You will need a recreation pass to enter.

On Half Moon Lake there is a boat launch with 27 parking spaces. When you enter Pinckney Recreation Area the boat launch is going to be on your right. To enter you will need a recreation pass.

On Lake Chemung, there is a boat launch located on Oak Haven Drive with 27 parking spots available. There are also restrooms at the boat launch. Bring the tub, fishing poles, life vests, and sunscreen for a day of fun.
